It was lunch time. Looking through the cabinets of food, I couldnt find anything that looked truly good to eat. So I picked up my bag and headed down the hill. My stomach started to growl as I went. I was so hungry, but had no idea what I was hungry for. I reached the bakery, and opened the door. The smell was lovely. Pies, sandwiches, yet I still didnt know what to pick. Then I saw a reflection in the cabinet and looked up to the window. An Asian boy strolled past, on his way to class. His headphones were on. A few seconds after he left my sight, my heart began to stop racing. The cold sweat that had broken over me seemed dense.
Shhhh.
Can anyone hear it.
Shhhhhh, I said.
Please,
quiet.
Listen.
Do you hear it?
Dont move,
just listen..
The heart pounds heavy
the hands grow shaky
the anxiety rips through
her tightening insides.
Can you hear it yet?
Shhh..
Shes helpless
shes SCREAMING.
Its so loud,
It echos in her head
pounding off the sides.
Vibrating her pounding heart.
Cant you hear her?
Shes screaming,
Shes screeching,
Shes reaching,
out for you
our for anyone
anyone to hear her.
LISTEN!
But noone will
noone does
they cant.
They dont know how.
Her life is a shallow
schedule
Picture perfect
How thin can you go?
Up for a challenge?
Painful and slow.
Waiting it out
Obsessed with forbidden
Skip one more meal
Keeping secrets hidden
Insomnia increases
Watching seconds tick
Saying you're not hungry
Denying you're sick
Grinding teeth
Vision wavering
Tastes long forgotten
You're still savoring
Standing outside
Feels so cold
Approaching blackness
Then legs fold
Hospital bed
Haven't awoken
Tearing eyes
Lives are broken
